Introducing Vibe People Studio

It’s August, a time for new beginnings, anxiousness, and the hope of transformation for the better in the air. Here at the Robbins household, we’re gearing up for Harper’s senior year of high school. And with that comes excitement for the future, anxiousness about the unknown, and a bit of remorse for the upcoming year of “lasts”.

There are new beginnings for Vibe as well. And with that comes the same feelings (although admittedly not as piercing as when thinking of my daughter).

I’ve spent over a year dancing with building the future of Vibe and trying to define what it looks like. I originally set out strictly as a fractional People & Culture professional. I still do that for a very select number of clients and will continue to do so. I’m good at it, and it keeps my finger on the pulse of startup and scaleup operations (not to mention I love building cool shit).

If you’re a Clifton Strengthsfinder whiz, you’ll know that my top two strengths of Ideation and Futuristic keep my mind wandering to thoughts of what could be (and I tend to get lost in them). After a year of this waffling, I’m moving forward.

So for this next season of Vibe, I’m leaning into my most cherished accomplishments (and what makes my heart skip a little beat)...

To inspire and empower visionary leaders in crafting dynamic, people-centric ecosystems that nurture creativity, transformation, and forward-thinking cultures.

While my content has been centered around the above, I’m not sure I’ve explicitly stated it. Whoof. It feels good.

And the Vibe HRC name just doesn’t do it justice. It’s beyond HR. So I’m introducing you to (dun dun dunnnn)... Vibe People Studio. 🌈

Why “People Studio”? Because building charismatic people ecosystems and cultures isn’t a numbers game, it’s an art form. It takes curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and soul. It also takes a willingness to explore and share your story with others.

My hope is to bring the inspiring and the inspired together, all in the spirit of creating workspaces that are just…easy, to be a part of.

Over the next few weeks, you’ll see changes to my website and the programming/services Vibe People Studio offers. Much of the same, but so much more…me.

My newsletter format is another one of those changes. I’ll continue to write pieces that reflect my thoughts on building thriving people ecosystems and cultures, but also highlighting all the creative people professionals and tools out there making these workplaces just a bit more attainable. I welcome your feedback, your contributions, and thoughts.

Now let’s get to it. 🚀

Building an all-in culture

I’ve been fortunate to witness and be a part of, a few company cultures worth writing home about. interestingly, these companies achieved what I would call successful outcomes, whether it was a successful merger or acquisition, a transformational event with relative finesse, or growth and dominance in their space (LFG). And you know what else they all had in common?

They all aspired to create an “all-in” culture. 👊

But what is an all-in culture? Sounds hooey.

An all-in culture is a workplace where every person, regardless of their position, is committed to and engaged in the organization's goals and vision. It's an environment where everyone contributes, ideas are welcomed, and individuals genuinely feel empowered.

Now, let’s be real…expecting 100% of your team to be all-in 100% of the time is unrealistic. We also can’t control every aspect of our company culture. But what we can control are the inputs that shape our cultures.

The key is to design the culture you aspire to. To create an environment that nurtures that desired culture, one that activates engagement among your team. When you do, you’ll see the results: higher engagement scores, better customer success metrics, increased innovation, and soaring profitability…NBD.

So, if a company can achieve a majority of the team being all-in a majority of the time, they’re essentially batting 1000.

Sounds awesome, right? That’s probably why this is my most-requested topic for speaking engagements and mastermind sessions. And I learned a BIG lesson the first few times I presented it…

Creating an all-in culture has a lot of moving parts, bro.

During hour-long sessions, I’ve seen head nods turn into frantic note-taking, then into overwhelm, and finally resignation. The reality is, that building an all-in culture is a full-time gig. Not just for HR and People Leaders, but for Founders, CEOs, CxOs, and the ENTIRE leadership team.

So, it’s too much to cover in one post, newsletter, or even a one-hour live session. Building an all-in culture is a journey that requires time, practice, iteration, and (yes) creativity. 🌈

But don’t panic. That’s what Vibe People Studio is here for. We’ll work on this together.

Over the next few newsletters, we’ll dig into;

  • Key characteristics of an all-in culture

  • The shift to hiring for attributes

  • Managers turned coaches

  • Learning, creating, and making decisions, together

  • Making culture change stick

  • Making the case for culture change

Whew! That’s a lot.

🧐🤔 Even as I look at it now, I’m thinking this might call for a mastermind clinic. A space where we can explore, share ideas, and game plan for our own all-in cultures. WDYT? Are you in? Let me know. ❔❔

Culture Catalyst: innovative tools for culture activation

In our quest to build dynamic, people-centric ecosystems, I'm always on the lookout for tools that spark creativity and foster forward-thinking cultures. Each month, I'll spotlight a game-changing solution that's helping visionary leaders transform their workplaces.

This month's feature: Flint - A performance management platform designed for continuous alignment and growth

In the fast-paced world of scaling businesses, keeping teams aligned and focused can feel like herding cats. Enter Flint - a performance management platform that’s rethinking the way we keep our teams on track. Flint isn’t just about ticking off goals; it’s about fostering continuous alignment, ensuring everyone knows where the ship is heading and why it matters. This tool might just be the spark your team needs to keep the momentum going. Let’s take a closer look at how Flint is making waves in forward-thinking cultures.

Flint empowers your team to build sustainable habits with customizable tools for 1-on-1s, goal setting, and performance checkpoints. Move beyond traditional annual reviews with lightweight cycles, or fully embrace their innovative Continuous Alignment System, seamlessly integrated with Slack. Leveraging AI, Flint automates coaching moments, tracks impact, and aligns goals to drive meaningful progress for team members across your organization.

Why I like it 🫶

Because I’m all about sustainable habits, and great performance comes from great conversations, alignment, and feedback. Flint goes beyond the status quo (yes, I’m talking about you, annual performance reviews 😝), and empowers leaders to…lead better…in the flow of work and in a very pragmatic fashion.

It’s a tool that doesn’t just sit in the background; it actively engages with your team, helping to cultivate a culture where growth and alignment are part of the everyday rhythm. Plus, its integration with tools we already use makes it easy to adopt and even easier to love.

Well, that was fun! I hope you’re feeling as pumped as I am to dive deeper into building that all-in culture we’ve been talking about. There’s a lot more to explore, and I can’t wait to dig in with you.

So, what’s next? More insights, more actionable tips, and maybe even a few surprises along the way. Next month catch our first culture activator interview as well! Stay tuned, because we’re just getting started.

Until next time, keep those good vibes going, and remember, we’re all in this together. 🎵🎶😉
